Assistant Attorney General

Josaphine B. Yuzuik is an Assistant Attorney General in the Maryland Attorney General’s Office for the Office of the Secretary of State. Since 2015, she has advised the Secretary of State’s Office on charitable enforcement matters and administration of the Maryland Solicitations Act.   She develops and litigates charitable enforcement actions against charitable organizations and individuals who use deceptive and misleading charitable solicitations in the State of Maryland.  From 2015-2017, she served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System, where she was responsible for civil litigation impacting the Retirement System including litigation seeking the recovery of pension assets.  Prior to joining the Maryland Attorney General’s Office in 2015, she was an attorney with Maryland Legal Aid, where she held both staff and supervisory positions providing free civil legal assistance to low-income Marylanders in housing, consumer protection/bankruptcy, and public benefits matters. From 2004 to 2006, she was a staff attorney Southeastern Ohio Legal Services.  She earned a J.D. and Certificate in Law and Public Policy from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law and undergraduate degrees in journalism and political science from Ohio University.
