Carol Barnard is a director specializing in nonprofit assurance with more than 18 years of public accounting experience. She provides her clients with expertise in navigating nonprofit audits and financial reporting, Uniform Guidance compliance and Single Audits. She is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and utilizes her designation to bring suggestions for internal controls best practices to her clients.
As an active thought leader within the nonprofit industry, Carol continuously shares her expertise through nationally broadcasted webinars, internal training sessions and other speaking opportunities. A creative and analytical thinker, she enjoys sharing her practical knowledge with audiences.
On an annual basis, Carol helps many for-profit and nonprofit clients learn how to develop better internal controls in compliance with the Uniform Guidance and for nonprofit GAAP. She helps her clients stand behind their numbers and brings valued understanding to her client service approach.
Carol has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting from the University of Phoenix. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Greater Washington Society of CPAs (GWSCPA), the Maryland Association of CPAs (MACPA) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Since 2014, Carol has served as the Treasurer on the board of Second Chance Wildlife Center and is also a contributing author and editor of the ASAE’s Financial Handbook for Associations and Nonprofits.
